Description & Topics

The HVAC industry is one of the fastest-growing skilled trades in the country — and every successful technician starts with a strong understanding of the industry they’re entering. Module 1 gives you that foundation.

You’ll explore the history of HVAC, the differences between residential and commercial systems, and the career paths available to trained technicians. You’ll also get introduced to the certifications that matter most — EPA Section 608, NATE, and HVAC Excellence — along with the industry organizations that set professional standards.

The second half of the module focuses on safety. You’ll cover PPE, Lockout/Tagout procedures, electrical hazards, refrigerant handling, and OSHA basics — everything you need to know before you touch a piece of equipment.
